Carolyn Bendall

Carolyn Bendall is an experienced marketing and communications executive with over twenty-five years’ experience in the banking and finance sector. Currently Head of Marketing for ANZ Australia and Lead of its newly formed Marketing Centre of Expertise, Carolyn is passionate about truly understanding and meeting customer needs, aligning brand strategy with excellence in communications, delivering results, and leading and developing a large team of talented professionals.

Carolyn’s experience spans corporate, commercial and retail market segments, across Australia and New Zealand, and in disciplines ranging from advertising, media, sponsorship and integrated campaign delivery, internal communications and culture development through to distribution channel and product management.  She was a founding member of the ANZ Disability Action Plan Steering Committee, and has also been passionate about understanding and developing financial confidence and empowerment in women over many years.

Significant achievements during this time include leading the ongoing evolution of the marketing function to ensure fit for today’s dynamic environment, the ongoing development of ANZ’s social platforms in Australia, market leading growth in marketing ROI, and the development and production of dozens of ANZ’s most memorable advertising campaigns – winning 14 Cannes Lions over the last four years for ANZ’s sponsorship leverage of the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras.

Carolyn was proud to lead Mumbrella’s 2016 Marketing Team of the Year, and was listed #8 and #14 in CMO Australia’s CMO50 2016 & 2017 listings, which recognise Australia’s most innovative CMO’s.

With professional qualifications in marketing, psychology and a diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Carolyn is a Director of ANZ Rewards No.2 Pty Ltd, a member of the Deakin Business School Advisory Board, and as a qualified “ANZ Notable Woman” actively participates in external speaking events and media interviews, has a visible social profile and is regularly published via ANZ Blue Notes.

In addition to her demanding career, Carolyn is also mother to three children and loves spending time with family and friends. Other passions including staying healthy, walking, books, movies, cosy fires, food, wine and laughter.
